About EquiNext Research & Development Foundation
EquiNext/eqn™ was conceived by its founder in 2015 (around the same time when the world leaders were discussing the Paris Agreement!) and after an exceedingly long gestation period of almost 6 years, it saw the light of the day on 20 July 2021. This was at the juncture of the mellowed second wave of Covid-19 and around increasing discussion concerning the role of climate change in the pandemic. This, tempered with the ambition to contribute in research and development to the new world order, led to the establishment of eqn™. We are aimed at securing climate justice and becoming a global change-maker in the arena of research surrounding sustainability, with a special focus on the Indian context.
eqn™ is extremely cognisant of the fact that climate change has made our resilient planet extremely vulnerable and there are not too many years left to take action for those that are highly threatened by this crisis.
It is thus highly imperative that States and economies respond to climate change solutions and eqn™ commits to making its mark through its contribution in steering climare action. By being based in a vibrant and growing economy, we have the advantage of contributing to the ongoing momentum that our country takes and driving change within and outside of the institutional framework.
eqn™ as of today
Young, dynamic, and focussed, eqn™ is determined to work in achieving its vision through actionable like advocacy, campaigns, capacity building and research in specific focus areas. We believe there is a long road ahead for the world to embrace the principle of inter-generational equity and governance. This also throws us the opportunity to dive deep in this subject matter from every angle using solutions to mitigate the risks posed to the world’s current and future generations from the ongoing climate crisis.
We believe it is possible for people and the planet to co-exist and co-thrive and yet pass the earth’s resources to our next generation if climate action is exercised effectively. To be highly effective, it is absolutely imperative to adopt a focussed and mindful approach backed by qualitative research and data. Technological innovation, creative circular and sustainable practices particularly in consumption and production practices; all this backed by superlative research analyses. Climate finance is clearly the go-to topic for the current-day world and eqn™ is determined to drive this agenda whole-heartedly in its various work areas.
